Never trust a poet

My dearest love,

You must never trust a poet

for they fabricate worlds

by spinning tall tales

Tell them of your sadness

and watch it become melancholia

Speak of a simple man

he will emerge a hero

Warm gentle tears

alchemise into a tropical storm

Anger swiftly transcends

into burning hot rage

Kindness

drips sweet as honey, while

a wounded heart

is made of shattered glass

You see my love?

You must never trust a poet

for they live in extremes

and breathe hyperboles

Infatuation

manifests as adoration

Secret smiles recast

as links in a golden chain

The slight brush of a hand

carries shocks of electricity

They will have you believing

the sound of your voice plays their favorite song

that no earthly palace holds them better

than the arch of your arms

And there is no longer minute

than one spent in your absence

I’m telling you, my love

You must never trust a poet

for they will create a world

which you will not want to leave
