Parting gift

is the last poem

that I will write you.

I sincerely hope

that you consider it a parting gift

for all the lessons you bestowed upon me.

However unconsciously,

you prepared me well.

Thank you kindly,

my inadvertent teacher,

for the clarity

and for the release.

I’ve finally understood

that the only way

to let you go

is by holding on to me.
